Liz I actually used this stuff instead of the tattoo healing balm because I needed it then and there and the shop had run out of z balm. I'm actually glad. I found that this sped up the healing process by several days on my new tattoo and as much as I love the balm (which I get in the tube for convenience when travelling) I use this at home because of the reduction in healing time.
